Lt. Stephen Rogers started his career with the Lucas County
Sheriff’s Office in July of 2006 working as a dispatcher / 911 call taker in the Communications Section. In 2013, Lt. Rogers took the Field Operations test for Road Patrol Deputy where he placed 3rd overall and eventually transferred to Field Operations. Working as a road patrol deputy, Lt. Rogers saw first­hand the impact the opioid crisis had on Lucas County by responding to numerous overdose calls for service. Seeing the impact that addiction has on the individual and the immediate family / friends made a lasting impression on Lt. Rogers.
In 2016, Lt. Rogers was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was assigned to 2nd shift jail sergeant. Lt. Rogers was assigned to the Lucas County Corrections Center from June of 2016 until January of 2018 where he was reassigned to the Drug Abuse Response Team ( D.A.R.T. ). Lt. Rogers oversees the day to day operations of the multi­jurisdictional unit. Being assigned to D.A.R.T., Lt. Rogers got to see individuals in our community overcome addiction, and the relationships that D.A.R.T. officers develop with their clients. The Drug Abuse Response Team truly is community policing at its finest. Lt. Rogers was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in November of 2020.
